Is this a university qualification?

This is an institutional Diploma provided by the St John’s Institute of Dermatology, it is not affiliated with a higher educational academy or university.
How long is the qualification?

Maximum 12 months part-time, but may be completed sooner if module content and assessments are completed
Can I continue to work/study alongside doing this qualification?

Yes, this a part-time qualification that can be completed alongside your other commitments. It will require an average of 6-10 hours of study per week.
Is this a basic GP (general practitioner or family doctor) qualification?

No. This is a secondary and tertiary care level, hospital dermatology, qualification. It may be appropriate for GPs who have completed their basic GP qualification and wish to expand their knowledge.
Is this a substitute for clinical training?

This Diploma is a supplement to, not substitute for, high quality clinical training. It is ideal for those who do not get exposure to certain subspecialties of dermatology in their regions of work and wish to learn more.
Does this accredit me as a clinical dermatologist?

No, this is not a substitute for an approved clinical training programme to become a dermatologist
Can I come to St John’s Institute to observe clinics?

This is a 100% distance learning qualification and does not include face-to-face components. You may wish to supplement the Diploma by attending our Institute in person (via an observership) which is run by our Visiting Professional Programme (VPP) and comes at additional cost. Can I attend courses run by the St John’s Institute team?

You may wish to supplement your learnign by attending the courses run by the St John's Institute of Dermatology via the St John's DermAcademy (www.stjohnsdermacademy.com/upcomingevents). If you are enrolled on the diploma at the time of registering, you will receive a discount off all DermAcademy courses.
